Inner Hebrides, Summer Isles
Tanera is a remote island in the Inner Hebrides and the site of one of the largest private restoration projects in the UK. Calshot has worked closely with the Tanera Restoration project as a major contributor to the regeneration of the island.

Our team led the full joinery and interior restoration across multiple cottages, barns, converted hangars and public spaces. The work focused on using reclaimed and repurposed materials throughout, blending craftsmanship with problem-solving to deliver bespoke interiors for each individual structure.
Tanera remains a rare example of what happens when design and traditional craft come together with respect for both place and heritage in one of the most demanding landscapes in the country.

The vision for Tanera was to restore and reinstate buildings without imposing a synthetic or modern feel. The goal was to work with what already existed, using repurposed materials and salvaged elements wherever possible. Calshot’s brief was to deliver high-quality interiors across the island’s structures while staying true to the rugged and understated character of the place.
Working with reclaimed materials was at the heart of the project. Our team incorporated aged timbers, salvaged fixtures and repurposed objects into new joinery and fitted furniture. The challenge was to blend these into fully functioning interiors while maintaining their integrity. Nothing was over-polished or forced into place. It was a project where patience, skill and understanding of materials defined the outcome.

The project covered multiple homes, barns, hangars and shared spaces, each with its own requirements and constraints. There was no repetition, no set approach. Calshot’s team worked building by building, designing and crafting interiors that reflected the nature of each space while quietly connecting back to the whole. Materials, scale and detailing were adjusted for every structure.
Logistics on Tanera presented their own challenges. Calshot’s team had to work in a remote environment with limited access, exposed to weather and with minimal resupply options. Flexibility and problem-solving were critical. We also collaborated closely with local craftspeople and specialists to complete the work at the standard expected.

The work on Tanera was about creating lasting interiors that feel natural to their setting and will stand up to time and use. Calshot’s approach throughout was guided by respect for place and materials. The project remains a strong example of how design, craft and practicality can come together to enhance, not overpower, a heritage environment.

The Rex Deli
The Rex Deli sits in a restored Grade II listed Queen Anne horse stable in Mayfair. Calshot was brought in to deliver a full interior and exterior fit-out, working closely with Head Chef Lahiru Jayasekara to create a space that felt both considered and practical.

Cadogan Garden Offices
This project involved the complete fit-out of a central London office building spread across four floors and a basement. The site came fully stripped out, with no external storage or laydown space. All deliveries and trades had to be coordinated carefully to maintain momentum within tight access restrictions.
