Restoration

Calshot has earned its reputation as a restoration yard by taking on some of the most challenging marine and land-based projects. We approach restoration with respect for the original design, understanding the structure and materials before any work begins. The focus is on retaining character, adding strength where needed and bringing vessels or buildings back to full use without erasing their history.

We have delivered full restorations on heritage vessels, superyachts, classic craft and architectural buildings, always working with care, restraint and precision.

The Workshop

Restoration at Calshot relies on collaboration. Our team of shipwrights, engineers, joiners, fabricators and painters work together to solve problems at the bench, not just on paper. Each project presents its own challenges and every decision is shaped by practical thinking and hands-on knowledge.

James’ Wharf itself stands as a working example of the values behind what we do: to restore, to reuse and to allow the character of the original structure to remain at the centre of the work.

“Our restoration work is built around the idea that we are never the main story. The vessel or building always comes first. It is our responsibility to understand what is already there and bring it back to life in a way that feels effortless. We are proud of the work, but the highest compliment is when people cannot see where the restoration stops and the original begins.”
